Clarifying My Design Background

I would simply like to clarify my background and the path I’ve taken through the various branches of design. I began with a broad design education, as it was structured in the late 2000s. This training covered multiple fields: spatial design, industrial design, fashion design, graphic design… (although it notably lacked any screen-based approach, which was still uncommon at the time).

After this generalist design training—which was then considered an essential first step—I chose to focus on graphic design, which had always been my goal. Gradually, I specialized in graphic design, typography, and eventually type design (that is, the creation of typefaces).

In retrospect, I think I approached design from a broad perspective, before gradually narrowing my focus to more specific elements: book layout, then text, until reaching the smallest meaningful unit — the typographic character. This progression felt natural. Deeply passionate about graphic design — a passion I no longer claim in quite the same way — exploring typography, which I see as the foundation of graphic design, seemed like a logical step to deepen my practice.
